Bucharest Beer Map
In the mostly Slavic family of former Yugoslavia and The Balkans, Romania is the wild but beloved big Latin cousin. In Bucharest, the food, music and culture (and beer) are similar to what you find in neighboring Serbia or Bulgaria. Yet the language has a lit that is familiar to anyone who knows Italian or Spanish.
Bucharest is not only the capital of Romania, but the largest city in the region. If you will be spending several days here, it would be best to get a transportation pass. But if you are only in the city for a weekend, The Old Town has a Craft Beer Row, Strada Di Bere, where you can easily pub crawl, then follow it with dinner at a brewpub just one street over. Finish the night with a quick hop to the neighboring No Room and Ironic Taprooms.
If you have more than a weekend, first, leave the center to take a tour of Oriel Brewery. They could claim to have started Bucharest’s craft beer movement with their Belgium styles. Next, return to the center to stop at Hop Hooligans, currently ranked Romania’s #1 brewery. After that, go to Strada Di Bere. Before you leave, be sure to collect a few souvenirs at the bottleshops, like Artizan Beer.
