Sarajevo & Mostar Beer Map
Yes, it’s difficult to find craft beer in Bosnia. The availability of any alcohol, let alone craft beer, depends on whether you are in a predominately Catholic, Orthodox or Muslim part of the country. Regardless, you will enjoy Balkan hospitality no matter where you travel. The biggest cities, Sarajevo and Mostar, have buses running between them regularly. The trip is about two hours, so it is possible to stay in Sarajevo and make a daytrip to Mostar.
Gelender, Semizburg and Cooltura are the main craft beer breweries of Bosnia. Often, in this small scene, a simple call ahead to a brewery is enough to arrange a tour. But at other venues, be aware that, although they advertise ‘craft beer,’ that often means just beer brand.
Besides breweries, this list includes bars with a large selection of craft beer. If there is a star, it is a brewpub and also serves food. In Bosnia, don’t miss the opportunity to have cevapi and burek, considered the best in The Balkans.
