Belgrade January Beer Education Tasting Course
In 2015, Serbia had only one craft brewery and one craft beer bar. Being a beer geek took a lot of organizing and planning. Beer tastings and brewing competitions were a rare thing.
Now in 2018, large beer festivals, tastings and homebrewing events are common. One month from today, on February 24th, there is a national brewing competition at Sportski Center Telep in Novi Sad. Before that big event, Belgrade’s Dogma Brewery will host a beer tasting course this Saturday the 27th.
Dogma Brewery’s beer education tasting course is open to everyone. But serious homebrewers and professionals looking for better brewery quality control will benefit the most from it. Specifically, the course will focus on beer tasting techniques, and how to detect, at a microbiological level, undesirable flavors in beer. The goal is to develop sensory analysis techniques with the intent of maintaining consistency during brewing.
This course features academic leadership. Dr. Sasa Despotovic, Professor of Food Technology and Biochemistry at Zemun’s Agriculture Technical School, will direct it.
His experience includes academic courses covering Malt Beer Processing and Natural & Mineral Water Processing. His has several research projects about value-added beer products and sensory evaluation on beer and similar products. In addition to being a consultant for micro- and macrobreweries, he is an ISO 17025 internal auditor.
This course is ideal for Serbia’s next generation of craft brewers. Only a maximum of 20 people can apply, and applications will close on Friday, January 26th.
